Pointwise Version 17.1 R3 is available for production use. In addition to many resolved issues, this release includes new capabilities for examining mesh quality metrics. In particular, you now have finer control over the cutting planes used to visualize volume mesh cells. You can now set either the number of cutting planes or the spacing between them and the coordinate range over which they can be swept.
Other new features in V17.1 R3 include the following:
Shaded surface display of CAD geometry is much faster – 47 times faster in one case.
The Kestrel CFD solver is supported in the CAE menu. Current support is for AVMesh v1.0.
The CAE interface to Exodus II has been enhanced and now includes support for baffles and T-Rex (anisotropic tetrahedral extrusion) tets-to-prism cell agglomeration.
In the Glyph scripting language, an optional parameter has been added to the closestPoint and intersectRay methods in the pw::Database class that returns a Boolean value indicating whether a surface was found.
The Pointwise version number is now displayed in the window's title bar.
