Overview

Pointwise is our leading mesh generation software product for CFD, encompassing nearly three decades of technology development. The product features a modern software framework and workflow and provides tools like 64-bit support, multi-threading, and Windows/Linux/Mac portability.

These release notes are provided as a reference for the new features included in the latest version of Pointwise as well as any known issues that were resolved.

New Features

The Fidelity Pointwise Tutorial Workbook and Fidelity Pointwise Glyph Reference Manual now contain sequential page numbering from one chapter to the next.
The new keyboard shortcuts for Isolate Mask (Ctrl + LMB + Mask Toolbar Icon) and Set User View (Ctrl + LMB + User View Toolbar Icon) have been added to the Shortcut Overlay.
The license server host ID can now be found in two places within the Fidelity Pointwise GUI: it is displayed in the Messages window at startup and can also be found in Help -> System Info.
The Select -> All Adjacent now supports adjacent selection of shell surfaces.

Resolved Issues

SPR	Description
PW-24043	The User Manual did not contain a description of the dynamic range or suggestions on how to fix issues related to it.
PW-24052	The Grid -> Solve -> Unstructured Domains -> T-Rex Tab page contained a tip box that pertained only to the unstructured block solver.
PW-24196	Automatic Surface Mesh was encountering an error on a geometry that had been assembled into a single quilt.
PW-24197	Importing an OpenFOAM grid with BC and VC data was stalling.
PW-24208	A file was failing to export a Q2 high-order mesh.
PW-24211	Computation time of Cell Non-Orthogonality had increased as compared to previous versions.
PW-24229	Blocks contained in layers that were off were selectable in the CAE -> Set Volume Conditions panel when Hide Assigned VCs was checked.
PW-24231	High-order export was stalling on machines running CentOS7 and CentOS8.
PW-24244	The ThermalDesktop CAE exporter was incorrectly terminating lines with commas.
PW-24255	Domain initialization was not picking up influence from two point cloud sources.
PW-24259	A connector set to an Adjacent Grid T-Rex BC was not picking up source influence.
PW-24276	Losing connection to the license server during T-Rex initialization would disable the OK button and prevent the file from being saved.
PW-24293	The Adjacent Grid T-Rex BC was behaving differently than in previous versions.

Important Notes:

Pointwise does not support 32-bit platforms.
• Pointwise does not support remote execution. However, a FAQ with remote execution workarounds is available.
