Pointwise V17.3 R3 is Now Available

Pointwise Version 17.3 R3 is now available for download and production use. This bug-fix release was expedited because two high priority issues were encountered and quickly resolved: one involving export to ANSYS Fluent®, the other involving isotropic tetrahedral meshes.

High Priority Issues

Export to Fluent was fixed to avoid “non-positive volume” errors due to a previous change to the order in which face owner/neighbor data was written to the file.

The isotropic tetrahedral meshing process was enhanced to eliminate regions of large tetrahedral elements in some specific configurations.

Other Fixes

The full list of fixes in V17.3 R3 can be found in the release notes. However, a few notable fixes are listed below in no particular order.

  • T-Rex's (anisotropic tetrahedral extrusion) Adjacent Grid boundary condition now correctly works if the adjacent grid is structured.
  • Editing a Bezier segment on a database-constrained database curve no longer crashes.
  • A typo in Gmsh export was corrected.
  • Using Alt+RMB (right mouse button) to query the coordinates of a circle's center while editing the circle no longer displays incorrect coordinate values.
