Pointwise V18.0 R3 is Now Available

Pointwise Version 18.0 R3 is now available for download and production use. This maintenance release includes new minor features in addition to bug fixes.

Significant new features in V18.0 R3 include the following.

  • Transparency (0-100%) is now an attribute that can be applied to the display of curve and surface entities (see Figure 1).
  • Double precision graphics is now the default instead of single precision.
  • Users can now configure Pointwise so that joined connectors do not contain internal breakpoints.
  • Your customer ID now appears in the title bar and at the top of the Help About dialog.

Other smaller features in V18.0 R3 include the following.

  • Distribute now displays the last spacing on a connector to which the Growth function has been applied.
  • Assemble Special now has an accelerator.
  • The angle limit for Selection is now saved as a Preference.
  • Ctrl+Enter now ends interactive selection called by Glyph.
  • The Solve command now remembers edge/face selection between tabs.
  • Shaded surfaces now give an indication of their outward normal direction; positive direction is the “shiny” side and negative direction is the “flatter” side.
  • NX 11 files can now be imported as database.
  • You can now specify arguments when launching Pointwise from a script.
  • There is now a toolbar button for deleting all internal control points from a connector.
  • 2-D T-Rex now considers isotropic mesh parameters when populating Match connectors.
  • The new Help, System Info command lists most of the information about the computer on which Pointwise is being run.
  • The Open command's Info message now includes the version of Pointwise that wrote the project file being opened.
  • The histogram settings in Examine now persist across all functions.
  • A message is now printed when the license server changes.
  • Small percentage values are better represented in tables.
  • Ctrl+E accelerator for most recent script now works on startup.
  • Set Optimal Dimension can now be applied to multiple connectors at once.
  • DB Boundary entities can now be used to create offset curves.
  • Script that is journaled to the Messages window can now be copied without the line's “Journal:” prefix.
  • FV-UNS support has been upgraded to v3.0.
  • CATIA V5R26 files can now be imported as database.
  • Byte Swap is now an option for UGRID export.
  • Escape is now the accelerator for the Close button.
  • CFL3D files now include valid numbers and not “XXX”.
  • You can now set a Preference for how the mouse's wheel does zoom, in or out.
  • You can now query license status from the File, License command.
  • Export to the Edge CAE format has been updated.
  • Cart3D is now a supported CAE format.
