Learn Advanced Pointwise Techniques Online

To stay up to speed with the latest advances in Pointwise mesh generation, we encourage our customers to regularly attend one of our training courses here in Fort Worth, TX. These courses focus on enabling you to learn how to generate meshes in the quickest and most efficient way possible.

However, in today's fast-paced world, it is not always easy or practical to travel to attend a training course. To address this, Pointwise will offer two new online courses in 2016. These online courses will make it easier for you to learn from our expert instructors on a variety of topics.

Advanced Structured Meshing

Polish your Pointwise structured meshing skills in this one day advanced course. Learn more about various topology choices and when they are appropriate for your geometry. Understand all of the attributes available for the elliptic smoothing used in the Solve command. See which diagnostics are most helpful in checking the quality of structured grids.

Using a mixture of lecture and hands on exercises, the Pointwise Advanced Structured Meshing course includes

  • Creating structured topologies on complex database models
  • Using Merge to work with geometry gaps and overlaps
  • Changing dimensions while maintaining computationally rectangular topology
  • Using the Distribute command for fine control of connector grid point distributions
  • Specifying sets of spacing constraints using layers and masking
  • Working with unusual structured block face topologies
  • Troubleshooting common problems

Advanced Glyph Scripting

Take your Glyph script writing skills to the next level in this one day advanced course. Discover how to import and organize entities for complex grid systems. Learn Glyph scripting techniques to address common pitfalls for structured and unstructured grid generation. See how to automate mesh quality evaluation for sets of grids using the Examine command. This class is for users who have attended the three day Glyph Scripting course or have experience with Glyph scripting.

Using a mixture of lecture and hands-on exercises, the Pointwise Advanced Glyph Scripting course will

  • Demonstrate intermediate and advanced Tcl syntax and commands
  • Illustrate how to handle I/O of large file sets
  • Show how to organize entities with advanced layer management
  • Discuss techniques for handling grid entity construction for realistic models
  • Explain and demonstrate the use of the elliptic and T-Rex (anisotropic tetrahedral extrusion) solvers
  • Generate reports of grid quality using Examine diagnostics
Glyph 2 provides a text-based, procedural, object-oriented interface to all Pointwise features.
