Survey on Glyph Scripting for CFD Mesh Generation

[May 2010] Are you using Glyph scripting in Gridgen to automate all or part of your CFD mesh generation?

Your answers to this question are important. We're brainstorming on how to best provide Glyph 1 compatibility in Pointwise. And to do that, we need to learn more about what kind of Glyph 1 scripts are out there.

You may recall that the syntax of the Glyph scripting language in Pointwise (Glyph 2) differs from that of Glyph in Gridgen (Glyph 1). Because Glyph 2 was designed into Pointwise from the start, it provides 100% of the GUI's functionality, better mimics your workflow in the GUI, and has a lighter syntax. Glyph 1 was added to Gridgen 18 years after development of the software was started which added certain challenges to the implementation.

The Results

Nearly three-quarters of survey respondents are using Glyph scripting to automate all or part of their meshing process. Average number of scripts per user is about 5 and average lines of script code is over 1,200.

71% of survey respondents automate mesh generation with Glyph.
