Bug Report Form
Thank you for taking the time to report Gridgen's behavior to us.
By reporting problems immediately we may be able to make you aware
of a recent bug fix, a work-around, or help you identify a usage
problem. If you report the problem by phone, please call while
you are seated at the computer so that you can run some commands
for us if necessary.
Please click here to jump
directly to the form at the bottom of this page. It would also help
us greatly if you could provide the following information.
- Customer ID
-
This identifier is reported to you with your Gridgen CD and all other
correspondence related to your license. It allows us to quickly
access your support history.
- Version Number
-
The Gridgen version number is shown in the upper left corner of the
screen and is printed to the shell window at startup.
- Problem Description
-
Describe what your grid looks like, what you were attempting to do,
and the commands you were using.
- Problem Manifestation
-
Did you get a segmentation fault and core dump, messages printed to
the shell window, strange graphical images, or a cryptic warning
message?
- Glyph Script
-
Use Glyph to write a script that repeats your problem so that we
can confidentally reproduce it.
- Core File
-
On Unix, do not delete a core file created by Gridgen. You can use
your workstation's debugger to find out specifically where the problem
is. For example, cd to where the core file is located and do the
following on an SGI or IBM:
your-prompt% dbx /usr/local/bin/gridgen
(dbx) where
and the following on an HP
your-prompt% xdb /usr/local/bin/gridgen
(xdb) t
This will list Gridgen's call-tree up to the point
of termination and provide valuable information to
assist in our diagnosis.
- Gridgen File
-
When the problem is repeatable, it always helps us if we can work with
your Gridgen file. If you're unable to share the files with us it
might be possible for you to recreate the problem in a generic form.
For example, you might delete all blocks except for the one(s) causing
the problem and send us that file. Or you might make a topologically
similar grid and send it to us. Either way please email the
files (Gridgen and database) to support@pointwise.com.
If the files are too large for email transfer, please arrange
to have them placed on your ftp server for internet access, or
contact Pointwise for information regarding upload to our ftp
site.
You can help us by providing all of the information below
and pressing the Send button at the
bottom of the page.
