CFD Solver Interfaces from Pointwise Meshing Software

Pointwise supports neutral, native, and de facto standard interfaces to CFD solvers (including the specification of solver boundary conditions) and a variety of other formats to ensure that Pointwise fits into your CFD process. Of course, Pointwise is compatible with a variety of CAD data formats as well.

Use the Built-in CFD Solver Interfaces

Pointwise supports these native CFD and CAE formats:

  • AcuSolve
  • ADPAC
  • ANSYS CFX
  • ANSYS FLUENT
  • CFD++
  • CFDShip-Iowa
  • CFL3D
  • CGNS
  • CNSFV
  • Cobalt

Create Your Own Custom Interface

Pointwise's CAE Plugin SDK allows custom exporters of grid and boundary conditions to be written by the customer and inserted at run time. Rather than utilize a neutral format, a CAE plugin can be written to provide exactly the format you need. A plugin is perfect for research codes that change frequently or proprietary formats for which you want to limit use.

One Mesh, Multiple CFD Solutions

Few CFD users rely on a single solver for all their applications. That's why it's important to have a single mesh generator that works with all your CFD solvers. You can learn one tool and reuse that knowledge across all your analyses. Illustrated below are a mesh for a drill bit and solutions on that single mesh from two CFD codes, one commercial and one open source.
