Pointwise Teaching Partnership for CFD Mesh Generation

CFD Mesh Generated by Students via the Pointwise Teaching Partnership
" It is my opinion that students should be taught to use grid generators that are compatible with all major flow solvers. Gridgen and Pointwise offer this important compatibility. I would like to continue as a Pointwise Teaching Partner and use Gridgen in my Vehicle Aerodynamics and Computational Aeronautical Fluid Dynamics courses."
- Dr. William Engblom, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
" The undergraduate students picked up the Pointwise code very quickly and easily. The user interface is so intuitive and "familiar" that neophyte CFDers were quickly building high quality grids."
- Dr. Jed Marquart, Ohio Northern University

Use the same software championed by leading engineering companies around the world to prepare your undergraduate and graduate students for their professional careers. The Pointwise Teaching Partnership Program offers

CFD Meshing for Students - Pointwise Teaching Partnership
  • 10 free teaching licenses for the duration of a class
  • Supplementary materials on request
    • Free software documentation
    • Training notes from our professional classes
    • Sample grid files

Qualifications

Recognized academic institution with at least two Gridgen or Pointwise discount priced academic licenses

Requirements

Samples of student work to share with the CFD community

  • At least one written report about your use of the software: information about your department, program or class; CFD results or anticipated results
  • Images illustrating the mesh and CFD solution
  • Grid and database files for meshes
  • Written certification that the free licenses only will be used for a class or lab and not for funded research

Consider Training

Your license includes training that can help you make the most of your grid generating time. Consider attending a three-day class that covers all aspects of Gridgen and Pointwise use, from geometry modeling through volume grid generation. The training schedule is available at pointwise.com/training.

Note

Teaching partnership licenses don't have to be on the same license server as your two academic licenses, but all free licenses must be on a single server.
