Find out what new features and fixes are currently slated for the next MR here: http://www.pointwise.com/library/prerelnotes.pdf. ************************************************************************ 3) Gridgen User Group Meeting 2006 Pointwise is pleased to announce the Gridgen User Group Meeting 2006 to be held at the Sheraton Grand Hotel Dallas/Fort Worth Airport in Irving, Texas on April 24-25, 2006. The meeting will include special Gridgen training seminars and training activities, presentations by Pointwise staff on new Gridgen developments, user presentations, and exhibits by our partners. We invite Gridgen users to present their work at the Gridgen User Group Meeting. Individuals interested in participating are asked to submit a brief (500 words or less) abstract describing the computational work for which Gridgen was used to mesh. Please submit your abstract by January 31, 2006 in plain text, Microsoft Word, or PDF formats via email to ugm@pointwise.com. For more information, please go to http://www.pointwise.com/ugm. ************************************************************************ 4) Changes to Gridgen Hardware/OS Support There are changes in the works to Gridgen's line-up of supported platforms and operating systems. *** MS Windows Effective immediately, support for Microsoft Windows will be limited to the XP and 2000 operating systems. This does not mean that Gridgen will necessarily cease to function on older Microsoft OS's. However, Pointwise will no longer test and support Gridgen on them. *** HP-UX Gridgen support for HP-UX 10.20 on PA-RISC has ceased. Gridgen’s HP-UX support on PA-RISC has been upgraded to HP-UX 11.11. Gridgen’s support for HP-UX 11.23 on Itanium is unaffected by this announcement. *** Other OS's Other changes affecting Sun, Compaq/DEC, IBM, and SGI platforms will commence in October, 2005. A variety of scripts are available for immediate download. Each script has its own page with a detailed description of what it does, including screen shots if the script uses a GUI. Sample files for testing the scripts are available too. What's even more exciting is that we want to add your scripts to the collection. If you have developed a script that you think will benefit the Gridgen community, look for the Upload A Script button on the web site. To enable the Quick Menu panel, toggle the “Menu QukMnu” option in DISPLAY COMMANDS. Afterwards, popular display options are moved to a new menu panel at the bottom left of the Gridgen window. Among other commands, all of the 6 saved orientations are now available all the time without having to enter the DISPLAY COMMANDS menu. ************************************************************************ 10) Free Gridgen Manuals for Contributing Focal Point Articles We are now looking for new article ideas for upcoming issues of Focal Point.
