John Chawner, Pointwise's President, and Steve Legensky, Intelligent Light's Founder and General Manager, invite you to join us for this annual event. Recent advances in Gridgen and FIELDVIEW will be presented as well as an inside look at future plans focused on helping you meet the challenges of applied CFD within a design environment. In depth demonstrations of Gridgen and FIELDVIEW will be held in the Exhibit Hall, Booth 101. Be sure to come by throughout the week and see what's new in FIELDVIEW and Gridgen. ************************************************************************ 4) Gridgen User Group Meeting Pointwise is pleased to invite our customers and partners to participate in the Gridgen User Group Meeting 2005 to be held in our hometown of Fort Worth, Texas on April 25-26, 2005. The meeting will include special Gridgen training seminars, presentations by Pointwise staff on new Gridgen developments, exhibits by our partners, and user presentations. This will be a good opportunity to learn about the latest Gridgen features, get a glimpse of future developments, and network with other CFD experts. The Call for Papers has been issued with a deadline of January 28, 2005. Submit yours soon! Get all the details about UGM 2005 at: http://www.pointwise.com/ugm. Have a question that the UGM 2004 web site doesn't answer? E-mail it to ugm@pointwise.com. ************************************************************************ 5) Glyph Script Sharing A new resource has been added to the Support area of our web site: a facility for exchanging Glyph scripts. A variety of scripts are available for immediate download. Each script has its own page with a detailed description of what it does, including screen shots if the script uses a GUI. Sample files for testing the scripts are available too. What's even more exciting is that we want to add your scripts to the collection. If you have developed a script that you think will benefit the Gridgen community, look for the Upload A Script button on the web site. Check it out now: http://www.pointwise.com/glyph/. ************************************************************************ 6) Native CAD Readers Gridgen's Native CAD Readers let you bypass the potential translation errors in an IGES file and read CAD data into Gridgen's database from the native CAD file without using a CAD license. Native CAD Readers are currently available for CATIA V4, Pro/ENGINEER, Unigraphics, and STEP. One Gridgen customer has seen his geometry preprocessing time cut drastically from 4 days with IGES to about an hour with a Native CAD Reader. Try a Native CAD Reader for yourself - you can request one at http://www.pointwise.com/tryncr. ************************************************************************ 7) Upcoming Gridgen Training Courses Gridgen Training Courses currently scheduled for next year at Pointwise's Fort Worth office include: 18-20 January 15-17 March 10-12 May 12-14 July 13-15 September 08-10 November Register early since the classes are kept small and fill up fast. More training information, including a registration form, can be found on our web site at: http://www.pointwise.com/support/train.shtml. ************************************************************************ 8) Pointwise Event Schedule Pointwise will be participating in the following conferences and events: AIAA 43rd Aerospace Sciences Meeting 10-13 January 2005 Reno, NV http://www.aiaa.org/ ************************************************************************ 9) Gridgen Tricks and Tips Blocks in Gridgen are always exported in the order in which they are stored in memory. This is the numbered order that you see by default every time you browse blocks for an operation. You can permanently change the order of the blocks in memory using the Sort command in the BLOCK COMMANDS menu. You are allowed to move one or a set of blocks to the top or bottom of the list, alphabetize the list, reverse the list, or sort blocks by their dimension. ************************************************************************ 10) Free Gridgen Manuals for Contributing Focal Point Articles We are now looking for new article ideas for upcoming issues of Focal Point.
