Applications Engineer


In this highly visible technical position, you will apply our software to unique and challenging grid generation problems and then communicate your solutions to the engineering community through writing and presenting technical papers at conferences and related events, producing webinars and videos, participating in industry trade shows, and preparing articles for Pointwise publications. This work will be performed individually as well as collaboratively.

This position requires someone with high energy, a working knowledge of computational fluid dynamics (CFD), excellent communications skills (including listening, speaking, writing, and presenting), and the ability to work well with other people. In this position, you will be able to develop knowledge of various business operations while still continuing an engineering career.


Due to the highly technical nature of our market, we require someone who already has experience, both academic and industrial, in applying CFD to real world problems. You are an ideal candidate for this position if you

  • have a working knowledge of and experience with CFD and grid generation software (experience with Pointwise is a plus)
  • an M.S. in engineering or a related field and/or applicable CFD experience
  • have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • have excellent interpersonal skills
  • can work both independently and as part of a team
  • are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (due to the requirement to work with ITAR-controlled articles provided by our customers)

Engineering Interns

Technical Support Intern

In this position you will be responsible for assisting with grid generation benchmarking, researching various customer-reported issues, and testing. You will generate CFD meshes and share the results with our technical staff. Typical tasks may include:

  • generating structured, unstructured, and hybrid meshes.
  • using Windows, Linux, and Mac computers.
  • working with 3D geometry of various complexity.
  • writing scripts to automate meshing using our Tcl-based scripting language, Glyph.

Product Development Intern

In this position you will be responsible for helping write, maintain, and enhance our software products based on customer inputs. Typical development tasks may include:

  • writing/debugging C++ for the Pointwise product.
  • writing/debugging C or C++ for a CAE plugin for Pointwise.
  • writing/debugging Tcl-based scripts.
  • performing quality assurance testing.
  • automating quality assurance tests.
  • writing/debugging shell scripts.
