Description
The Stereolithography (STL) file type is supported for surfaces containing triangles, quads, and N-sided poly cells beyond four edges.
Note that this is an extension of the StereoLithograpy
(
Ref. 44)
standard which only specifies triangle support. Since Fidelity Pointwise currently only supports unstructured domains with triangles
and quads, any cells imported with greater than four edges will be decomposed into triangles automatically. See the description for the
Domain Splitting frame for more information on how to automatically break unstructured
surfaces into multiple domains based on turning angle.
