Large-Scale Blast/Thermal Simulator (LBTS)

[1994] - Gridgen was used by Dr. Klaus Opalka at the U.S. Army's Research Laboratory to grid this Large-Scale Blast/Thermal Simulator (LBTS). The LBTS is essentially a large shock tunnel with seven driver tubes (red) emptying into the driven cavity (yellow). The LBTS is large enough that full-scale vehicles can be installed in the driven section in order to determine their reactions to passing detonation waves.
