Diesel Engine

A 51 block grid was generated for a single cylinder version of the Caterpillar type 1Y540, four stroke, four valve, direct injection diesel engine. The grid includes a piston, cylinder, intake valves, intake manifold, and stand pipe, and is used to establish better initial conditions for in-cylinder flow simulations. The grid was originally developed by Dr. Randy Hessel and Mr. Christopher Peiper and is provided by Mr. Peter Claybaker and Dr. Christopher Rutland of the Engine Research Center at the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
