External Automotive Flowfield

[1996] Pointwise personnel generated this 14 block grid for the flowfield around an automobile wind tunnel model. The red surfaces are the grids on the automobile's exterior geometry, the green surfaces are the ground plane grids, and the blue surfaces are the symmetry plane grids.

A flowfield solution was computed on this grid by the consulting staff at Fluent, Inc. using the FLUENT/UNS CFD code. The flowfield picture is shown below with pressure contours on the automobile surface and on the symmetry plane and pathline-ribbons.
