Pointwise Events at AIAA Propulsion and Energy Forum 2017

This year’s AIAA Propulsion and Energy Forum will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia. Pointwise will have staff at the conference presenting papers in technical sessions, and demonstrating software and answering technical questions in the exhibit hall. We hope to see you at any and all of these activities.

IFCPT S-Duct Grid-Adapted FUN3D Computations for the 3rd Propulsion Aerodynamics Workshop

Zach Davis, Michael A. Park

FUN3D, NASA’s unstructured Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes code, was applied to an inlet geometry from the 3rd AIAA Propulsion Aerodynamics Workshop. Focusing on three diffusing S-Duct cases, we examine the effect of output-based, off-body grid adaptation as a key enabler for improved CFD predictions. Using workshop-supplied grids, comparisons can be drawn between the adapted grid and non-adapted grid FUN3D results and wind tunnel test data for the baseline S-Duct, the S-Duct with Aerodynamic Interface Plane (AIP) rake assembly, and the S-Duct with flow control devices.
