Joining Blocks

Example of three adjacent structured blocks

There is a little trick to joining adjacent structured blocks so that you don't have to delete existing entities and remake the block. Note that it is not yet possible to join unstructured blocks in Pointwise. The example below contains three structured blocks that share two inner domains.

  1. Select the three blocks.
  2. Click on Join on the toolbar.
  3. Notice that there is not a panel for the Join command. All selected entities will be joined unless doing so would destroy topology.

Now there is one block. But notice that the inner block connectors are still present. There is an easy way to get rid of those connectors without remaking the block.

Three joined structured blocks with one joined face
  1. Select domains 1, 2, and 3.
  2. Click on Join on the toolbar.

Now the domain on the block is continuous. Repeat steps 1-2 for the other three sides of the block.
