Creating Poles

A pole is a segment that has zero physical length and is defined by a single point. These segments can be dimensioned with any number of grid points and are necessary for creating structured grids with singularities. However, before creating poles, make sure that your solver supports poles.

A pole is required for a structured grid in a pyramid

The example contains a pyramid where a pole is needed on the top (point A) in order to create the four side domains of the pyramid.

  1. Create, Draw Curves, Pole
  2. Click on point A.
  3. Apply (The pole is saved.)

Note that if there is not a point available to click on for the location of the pole, the coordinate can be entered into the XYZ field of the Point Placement frame.
